Car boot haul bargains!

I am very excited to share with you all the bargains i found at a car boot. I am a great fan of car boots, i love looking though lots of peoples junk and finding some treasures - today i hit jackpot!

We usually visit a car boot at least once every month as James is currently on the look out for a cheap hedge trimmer - i am always on the lookout for anything i fancy. 

I found a stall of a very glamorous older lady who explained she has a little bit of a beauty addiction. I sympathised with her and browsed her stall finding a little basket packed with various lipsticks and lip glosses. I was so excited to find some beautiful lipsticks and i braced myself and asked how much. The lady said that her husband would kill her if she brought them home - and asked for £2 for the lot. Seeing my shocked face she said she was happy that they were going to a good home and she had back ups anyway that her husband did not know about - seriously my kind of woman!

Very happy with this stash i became even more of a bargain hunter and found another stall with bargains galore, this time nail varnishes. This stall was manned by a little old guy who clearly did not want to be there. Each item had a little sticker of the price of each item carefully written, i have a feeling his wife may of sent him. This lady must have had good taste as i found a stash of nail varnishes i loved, for the bargain price of 50p each

By this point i was very pleased with my beauty bargains and we began to head back to the car. Not before i spotted a familiar logo in the distance.

I have read so many reviews on this and have been lusting after this clarasonic dupe for some time. I did expect to pay more than £5 for it however. Yes you read correct £5! This is completely new and sealed and i snapped it up. Before i let the stall the lady very kindly told me of a little bag of samples she had for £1 which included a cleanser i could use for this. I looked at the bag and each item was wrapped in tissue paper. I can not resist a surprise so i picked that up too.

New things

Whilst in Blackpool i was bullied by my mother and boyfriend to buy some new clothes. Bearing in mind when i met James he wore 38" waist jeans (he is a 32") and t shirts with skulls on i would not think he would be the one to give me fashion advice. My mum on the other hand is one trendy lady, she has an amazing figure and a great clothes collection. My mum and James get on very well and together they teamed up and took me shopping and made me buy some new togs.
I am not fashionable, not even a teeny tiny bit. My best friend is a fashion designer and most of my friends are more than capable of sporting the newest trends and looking fab. I personally have very little interest in clothes. I am a dress and leggings girl and rarely buy new clothes. I just much prefer to buy make up (not that i even bother with that every day!). That gives me a thrill, my make up bag is my pride and joy - my wardrobe and shoe collection is not. I however agreed as i did need a new black cardigan and something smart to wear for possible interviews. As i am on a budget we hit a local retail outlet to grab some bargains so there is not much variety in the shops we bought from - gotta love a sale though!

Charity shop haul

Over the past few days i have been selling lots of furniture and things which has meant i have a little spending money. Today i went into my local town and hit the charity shops to see what bargains i could find as a treat. In the first charity shop i was drawn to a wooden box with a key on a piece of string. The price tag said £25 reduced to £10. On opening this curious box i found an old style singer sewing machine. Its amazing, so pretty i would use it as an ornament. I cant post a picture right now as it was too heavy to carry home (its in the OH car) but i promise to show you! I was pleased as punch with this purchase and then went exploring the other charity shops and grabbed some other bits.

First i went to oxfam and they had a table with bits reduced to a pound. I love a bargain table and snatched up these,

Not on the £1 table but 50p each so also a pound :D

Then i went to the red cross. I love this charity shop the most in my town as it is so well presented. The ladies in there obviously go to so much effort to organise and present the stock it makes a nice shopping experience. I am not against rooting but sometimes you miss out on gems all because the shop has too much stock crammed in. I was really happy when i spotted the next things i got. Firstly i found this T shirt by Tipster, with the label still in and in fabulous condition, for £3.00

Flitting though the rails some more i found a hoodie by Pink Apple that i was drawn too. It is not something i would usually wear however i thought it was super cute and retro looking that for £3.50 it seemed a bargain. This was also in excellent condition.

wahhh, its so cute. I will hang onto this for a while and if i never wear it i will pass it onto a friend who i know will love it. 

So that is my charity shop haul. I spent £19.50 altogether and feel like i have a bargain. After a little scouting on the Internet i have found a similar looking sewing machine to the one i bought for £60-£100 so i might have bagged myself a gem. Without the exact model i can not be sure but i will do a post about it very soon!

My pound shop make up haul

Hello Chickens,
Today i had an hour to kill before work so i popped into town and had a gander in the new pound shop. I found a whole wall dedicated to beauty, the majority of it was rubbish however there were some interesting products. Firstly i discovered that pound land stocks cat shaped vajazzles, these seem popular as half of the stand was empty, wow! After that shock i had had a gander at the make up items and was rather impressed with the selection. I only picked up a few bits because i had spent up buying baby bits for my nephew.

My £3.00 Haul

Firstly i picked up a Sally Hansen nail varnish in Hollywood Scarlet. I always read and watch blogs and Youtube videos about these but i have only ever found the treatments such as the nail hardeners.

Sorry about the terrible picture quality, its dark and i have been struggling to get my camera to focus. The bottle is really nice, something i would be happy to display on my dressing table. The lid is rubberised with grips which i think is a good touch as i have on a few occasions dropped a nail varnish lid and its gone on my carpet, eeps. The brush is small which is a bit annoying as its harder to apply neatly as it does not really fan out but the consistency is fabulous and two coats looks perfect. There were loads of other pastel colours, i know these are bang on trend right now but they look rubbish with my super pale skin and stumpy little nails - all in all really worth a quid if your passing!

Secondly i picked up a Maybelline cool effect blush duo.

These were in a pack together so i could not test the colours in the shop. I have never seen these before so i thought it was worth a try for 50p each. After swatching these it was pretty obvious these are not suitable for  the same skin tone so a pretty rubbish duo, however i really quite like the pink toned one.

These are applied by a brush, similar to a nail varnish. Chillin Chocolate is way too dark for my skin and i will not be using this, however Pretty Cool Pink is quite flattering to my skin tone and works in the same way as Benefit High Beam and is rather similar in colour too! The consistency to these are rather runny and i would not use the brush to apply it on my face and would use my finger instead. As i have said on a previous post i have my main make up bag which lives on the dresser but i plonk other products in my bag for touch ups for during the day, for which this is perfect. If you are strapped for pennies i would suggest this as a very cheap Benefit high beam dupe. I found these online for around $6 each.

and finally i picked up this lipstick by Rimmel in Alarm, a very bright red.

I recently lost my only bright red lipstick so was very happy to see this. Again this came in a packet so could not see the colour in store but the sticker on the bottom is pretty true to colour. This lipstick is very bright, i applied it using the stick and it looked terrible for a photo, need to use a lip brush with this one because mistakes are super obvious! I did a quick search online and found that this exact lipstick is stocked now in Lloyds pharmacy for £4.99 so this is a pretty good bargain.

I will be going again very soon because there were a few other things i fancied trying, including nail art pens, eye liners, lip glosses and some bargain face and hair masks (10 for a £1!). For a quid i think its worth a risk and the majority of the brands were from well known drug store brands.

Rainy Day trip to the garden centre

Hello Chickens,
James finally put up my washing line and i planned to get all my washing done today - but the rain put a stop to that. So we decided to go out for dinner at the local garden centre (Sunday Carvery £5.99 Yummy!). The garden centre is massive and sells all sorts of things. James get very impatient shopping but he surprised me by getting rather excited about a stand in there, more about that later.

The food was yummy and the garden centre was packed on the way out we both were drawn to two stands. I saw a craft isle - why have i never seen this before? Then on the card stock i was presented with a challenge, "As much as you can fill for £2.99" on a plastic wallet. I obviously took to the challenge and squeezed as much card into the wallet as possible, James got rather mad waiting around. I also got some A6 card blanks (£2.99), some glue dots (99p) and a glue stick (99p).

Walking out James stopped at the candle stand. I adore candles and have rather a large collection. A few weeks ago James bought himself a candle and has burnt it every night as soon as he got in from work. He was rather upset and said "Why does this not smell good like your ones?" That's because dear, it cost £1.99. I then spent 20 minutes waiting for him to smell all the candles (I did not as i had spent up for the day and would just depress myself)  and he eventually appeared with this beauty;

I had seen these candles before and have really wanted to try them. He chose the Apple wood scent. These candles are cool because they have a wood wick - hence the name - which makes a crackling sound when it burns, plus they smell divine! This cost £18.99 for a large jar which lasts 180 burn hours. This made me happy. On the way out we bought a cupcake there were millions of flavours but i decided on the Mint choc chip.  It was very nice but unbelievably sickly so i only managed half of it (don't be fooled it was massive!)

The rest of the day will include putting curtain rails up, trying to get through my washing and doing some painting and hanging a door. When did my life become so... grown up?

Today's Haul

Whoops.....
I have been very naughty and purchased some new goodies that i probably should not have done.  I do have an excuse (kind of). Firstly i received £15 worth of L'Oreal vouchers as i bought my usual Telescopic Mascara which had no product in when i opened it! After sending it back they sent me vouchers in return through the post which were a little more than the mascara so i could not let them go to waste and purchased some other lovely things which then led to buying some other bits and bobs.

So here is what i got,

So due to the vouchers i got a few L'Oreal things as they also had 3 for 2 on.
L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara in Magnetic Black. I find that L'Oreal mascaras are great but have not tried this particular one out as i bought a stockpile of Lash architect 4D mascara a few months ago because they had an offer on. I am keen to try this as it has a plastic brush which is different to my usual mascara. I have used plastic brush ones before (i can not remember which brand) and hated it as it kind of flicked back and me and got mascara everywhere so keen to try this one out and see if it works well for me.

I then bought two nail varnishes from the Colour Riche collection in number 601, French Riviera and number 202, Marie Antoinette. I have never fried L'Oreal nail varnishes out so i am keep to give them ago. I have Terrible nails at the moment, they have all snapped off and turned flaky so i am hoping they grow again and i can have myself some beautiful talons (unlikely).

Next i got the Studio Secrets universal lip glow. I know i read about this somewhere and could not remember if it was good or bad so tried to Google it on my phone while in Boots - my internet on my Blackberry was so slow the shop assistant in boots came over to ask if i was OK so i just gave up and bought it.

So i went to the counter and purchased these goods which all came up to £10 after i cashed my vouchers in and used some boots points which was a bargain and they gave me a £5 voucher! I instantly went to No7 and got a nail varnish for £2 in the colour Betty Blues then i remembered i needed conditioner so went searching for some. On a pretty stand i found L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-gloss crystal shampoo and conditioner  which comes in a pink bottle and the shampoo is glittery so had to grab that too (i am a sucker for anything pink or glittery). I got another No7 voucher but put it in my purse this time because the guy in boots was looking at me like i was crackers by this point.

I then nipped to a cheap shop in my little town that sells the most random things ever, i got some nail varnish remover (essential) and some pads and at the till there were Rimmel Mono eye shadows for 39p in the colour Frivolity - So i grabbed two. I would not wear pink on my eyes but thought it might work as a blush highlight as it has a little bit of glitter in it.

After this i got myself home as quickly as possible because my purse was getting very light and i am rather poor at the moment. I start a new job next week so will soon have more pennies to buy more pretty things which excites me greatly - i am super fed up of buying things like paint and washing machines.

As this is a brand new blog i have decided that i am going to do a little give away once i reach 20 subscribers. I will be giving away one of the Rimmel eye shadows and a brand new No7 nail varnish in the colour of your choice, OoOo.
